The MAVerick Ensemble is dedicated to the
performance and presentation of works by composers, artists, and filmmakers of
the past fifty years who sought ways to create new works that resisted the
trends of the established artistic community.
Known for its bold programming and its exceptional performances, the MAVerick
Ensemble presents concerts of experimental music designed to engage, entertain,
and inform the audience. In residence at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art,
the ensemble presents a year-long concert series that has been selected as
Critic's Choice in the Chicago Reader.

Along with Cage's string piece, we will perform two pieces by Cage's colleagues: Morton Feldman and Christian Wolff. Recent Activity:

Andrea R. DiOrio and William Jason Raynovich have been preparing the commissioned works by Patrick Long (above left) and Pablo Chin (above right) for the upcoming concerts. We are excited to present these new works for you in the coming months. We will be presenting them during the Fall a few times. Pablo Chin's piece (For Instance Mozart) is a challenging piece which ends with the memory of Mozart. While Chin harkens back to a past music, Patrick Long references the music of today with a "robot drummer" accompanying the instrumentalists.
The first opportunity to hear one of these works is on September 20th, 8pm in Lutkin Hall at Northwestern University. We hope to see some of you there. For more information contact us at wjraynovich@gmail.com.
"[The MAVerick Ensemble's] performance of Music for 1, 2, or 3 people reminded me of David Tudor's." - Christian Wolff
